We’re Robert and Erin—partners in life and partners in this practice. The Reiki Life started because the more we studied and the more attunements we went through, the more we noticed a gap. Reiki felt a lot deeper and more “real” than the stuff we usually saw out in the world.
So, while we definitely offer Reiki sessions, we also wanted to build this hub as a place for you to learn and practice, too.
Our Roots (The “Why”)
Our foundation is built on traditional Japanese methods, which can feel quite different from the typical Western style. We started with the lineage of Frans Stiene and Jeremy O’Carroll, focusing heavily on meditation and hara-centred practice.
As we’ve studied further, the whole system started to feel… well, whole. For me (Robert), it’s always felt a bit like Buddhism without the religion. If Buddhism had a “healing branch,” this version of Reiki would be it—it’s like walking a path rather than just booking an appointment.
How We Actually Do Things
Reiki gets taught in a million different ways, but we lean into the traditional Japanese side of things. To keep it simple, here’s what that looks like when you work with us:
- It’s a living practice: We use the “classic pillars”—things like Gassho and Joshin Kokyu Ho—as tools for actual life, not just fancy terms we use during a session.
- Getting “Grounded” (For real): We focus on the Hara (your lower abdomen). It’s about getting you steady and settled before we do anything else.
- The Five Agreements (Gokai): You’ve probably heard “Just for today”. To us, these aren’t just slogans you stick on a fridge; they’re commitments that actually change how you handle your day.
- No scripts, just intuition: We don’t use rigid hand charts. We rely on Reiji (inner guidance) and Byosen (sensing) to figure out what you actually need in the moment. No two people are the same, so no two sessions are the same.
Ultimately, we aren’t here to be “personality brands” or gurus. We’re just here to help you find that space that Reiki opens up inside you.
